Beth Christopherson, LCSW Presents: Assessing & Addressing Afterlife Beliefs & Spiritual Experiences: An Introduction for Mental Health Professionals

July 25th, 2018 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Wednesday

This One and One Half Hour Webinar* starts at 9PM Eastern Time. Your Registration Page will have a link to calculate the time for your particular time zone

This webinar is part of a series of webinars offered by Forever Family Foundation. It is our new and exciting way to both fulfill our mission to educate the public and change world view about what happens after we die. And the best news yet is that you don't have to get on a plane and travel to one of our Afterlife Conferences anymore. Now, in the privacy of your own home, you can watch and learn from the greatest people in their field.

This introductory class will identify and discuss the variety and frequency of spiritual experiences in which an afterlife is perceived. In addition, we will review the critical reasons for mental health providers to assess afterlife beliefs and spiritual experiences as part of their religiosity/spirituality assessments. Lastly, attendees will receive a multitude of potential resources for persons who have had a spiritual experience or for those who want to explore the science and philosophy of the continuation of consciousness.

Beth Christopherson, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist in Houston, TX. Her practice and published work focuses on integrating spirituality into the client's healing process. She has written about the ethics, options, and challenges for mental health providers in assessing and addressing afterlife beliefs and spiritual experiences in articles such as The Elephant in the Room of Grief and The Spiritual but not Religious: What Social Workers Need to Know. She also developed and presented the workshop “Ethically Integrating Afterlife Beliefs in Therapy” at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Because she values both the academic and spiritual aspects of grief and loss, Beth serves as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Death and Dying; she is also a member of the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC), the International Association of Near-Death Studies (IANDS), and the Forever Family Foundation. One of her passions is teaching and encouraging others to succeed; therefore, Beth frequently presents at local universities and medical schools on a variety of topics related to mental health and quality-of-life issues.
